Annabelle Bennett

Based in Australia, Hon. Dr. Annabelle Bennett AC SC studied law and practiced as a barrister for nearly 25 years, where she developed a speciality in intellectual property. Dr. Bennett now practices as a mediator and an arbitrator.
Between 2003 and 2016, Dr. Bennett served as a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia where she ruled on many intellectual property cases at first instance and on appeal, along with tax and immigration matters and more. She has also served as President of the Copyright Tribunal of Australia and the National Coordinating Judge of the Intellectual Property Practice Area.
She is currently an Arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport; Member of the Board of Directors of the Garvan Institute; Chair of Gardior Pty Limited (Trustee of the Infrastructure Fund); Member and past President of Chief Executive Women; Member of the Board of Directors of the Community Migrant Resource Centre; and Member of the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Law at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Until early 2024 Dr. Bennett was Chancellor of Bond University and Chair of the Australian Nuclear Science & Technology Organisation Board. She has also served as a Commissioner with the NSW Law Reform Commission and as a Royal Commissioner into National Natural Disaster Arrangements. Dr. Bennett is the former Chair of WIPO’s Advisory Board of Judges.
Dr. Bennett is a Fellow of both the Australian Academy of Science and Australian Academy of Law.
