Retired Paul Hastings Partner Kurt Hansson Joins FedArb to Expand New York Presence in High-Stakes Disputes

Veteran litigator and trusted advisor to global corporations takes on newly created role to strengthen FedArb’s engagement with leading law firms and in-house counsel in the nation’s most consequential legal market.

April 7, 2026 — New York – FedArb today announced that Kurt Hansson, a longtime partner in Paul Hastings’ Complex Litigation and Arbitration practice, has joined the firm as its New York Ambassador. In this newly created role, Hansson will lead strategic engagement with top-tier litigators and corporate counsel, further expanding FedArb’s presence in high-stakes disputes as companies seek more efficient, expert-driven resolution of complex matters.
Based in New York, Mr. Hansson will work closely with FedArb’s leadership, including President and CEO Kennen D. Hagen, to deepen relationships with leading law firms and corporate legal departments. He will engage with clients at the highest levels, participate in leading legal forums, contribute to thought leadership initiatives, and help connect complex commercial disputes with the right FedArb neutrals.

Over a 40-year career at Paul Hastings, including as a partner in its Complex Litigation and Arbitration practice in New York, Mr. Hansson represented global corporations in high-stakes, cross-border disputes and played a central role in building the firm’s litigation department. He has advised multinational companies on their most sensitive matters, earning a reputation as a trusted counselor at pivotal moments—when experience, perspective and disciplined strategy matter most. Widely respected for his judgment, strategic clarity and courtroom presence, he has led proceedings across major court and arbitral forums worldwide.

Mr. Hansson was also instrumental in developing General Electric’s Early Case Assessment program, an approach later adopted by numerous Fortune 500 companies to reduce dispute risk, control costs and strengthen trial readiness through early strategic evaluation.

“Kurt brings a rare combination of credibility, experience and trusted relationships at the highest levels of the legal market,” said Kennen D. Hagen, President and CEO of FedArb. “His perspective will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our engagement with leading law firms and corporate counsel, particularly in New York, and expand our role in resolving complex disputes. We are thrilled to have him as our ambassador.”

“FedArb has built a distinctive platform for resolving complex disputes with elite talent and a client-first approach,” said Mr. Hansson. “I look forward to working closely with Ken and the team to further elevate its presence among the firms and companies handling the most consequential matters.”
